I have a decent collection of tools, but I don't have all the specialized tools you might need. So, I've compiled a list of places where you can get these tools at good prices and with fast turnaround times.
When it comes to watch repair, there are some tools that you just can't do without. Whether you're a newbie or an old hand at watchmaking, this list will help you get started.
Jeweler's screwdriver set
You'll need this for removing and replacing small screws on most watches. It should include at least two sizes of Phillips heads and two sizes of straight blades. Some sets include Torx (star) head screws, which are used on many watches and other consumer electronics.
Pin vice
A pin vice looks like a very small drill press with a single bit that fits into the chuck at the top. The bits come in various sizes and shapes, including flat, round and square-shaped heads.
You use these bits to make indentations in watch cases or bracelets so that they can be removed by specialized tools later on down the road when servicing parts such as bracelet clasps or pushers (the button used to wind up mechanical movements).
Spring bar tool set
These are used to remove or install metal strap bars (also known as spring bars) without damaging them or the case of your watch. There are several different types available
